It was sad to hear that Bradley Frederick was going back to Australia because although we hardly see each other anymore, he’s a really cool guy to have around. I still remember the day we were told that Brad Turvey was joining the Morning Rush three times a week. We were like, “Who, the Penshoppe guy? The Mandy Moore, out-of-tune guy?” And when we first met him at RX, he was pretty out of sorts since he hardly had any sleep. So we thought we were going to have trouble with this guy. Little did we know that he was a hoot to be with. Quicker than you can say, “Ozzie! Ozzie! Ozzie! Oi! Oi! Oi!” (Hmmm…did I spell that right?), we realized at once that we were on the same page and that we had such an easy time blending in with each other. Even outside of the station, we found ourselves hanging out as dive buddies. But after he stopped radio, we hardly saw each other anymore, so it was quite a shock to find out that he was leaving.
It was supposed to be a surprise send-off party, so we were shocked when, as we entered his condo building, who should be walking out? Brad! We had to come up with some lame excuse about how we were visiting another friend in the same building. Eventually, the gig was up, and we had a little despedida in his apartment. Since we haven’t seen each other in ages, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he bought a dog as well – a Yorkie! He’s an adorable 2-year-old named Taco. He was so friendly even with complete strangers. I hope Cairo ends up as mild-mannered as Taco is. Here’s a couple of pics:
What a cutie!
And although I knew that Brad was already a Dive Master and that he took underwater photos, I didn’t realize just how good he’s gotten! When he showed us his photos, they looked like they came from pages of underwater photography books! We were telling him that he could put out a book of his own. They were really REALLY good.
Oh well, eventually we had to say goodbye, and hopefully we’ll still get to see him every now and then, when he visits the P.I., but it was still sad to see him go. He was planning to go on board with us one last time before he left, but his sked got way too hectic to fit that in. So Bradley, we’re sure you’ll miss us a lot (hehehe…it’s a roundabout way of saying we’ll miss you), and I will remember you INSTANTLY when I hear words like, “quokka”, teabagging”, and “Oishi”. Please say hi to your lovely mom and Greg and Reiko.
Some pics of Brad and his friends:
Chico, who would you rather invite to go back to Manila? Turdey or Taco? Bawal i-Google! Kidding.
I still have the Hot Tens from Mr. Bradley’s days. 🙂
Bye Pareng Brad. Pakiss.
that’s really sad to hear. yeah, he gave the morning rush extra oomph for a while (not that the show lacks oomph) but it was really fun having him on the show (squirting squid ha ha ha)
hope he could still make it & go on board with you guys for the last time. i remember meeting him at the tea party in libis, he’s a nice guy.
but where is gorgeous delle in his send-off party?
ang gwapo… ni brad ha 😀
tsk, di man lang naten nasilayan ang ma-alamat na SQUID ni brad. 😀 ahaha…
For good? Waaaahhh !
well, we do what we got to do. brad seems like a grounded-gentle guy. someone who has the zest for life! all the best for him and to whatever he sets himself out to do! also, taco would pass for a dog shampoo commercial – he got beautiful silky hair!
oh, and yes, as point-out by al_dente…delle is noticeably and oddly missing from the pictures.
Hi Chico, It’s my first time to check out your blog and what a surprise to see that you’ve met Jojo Ng! (He’s a good friend of my husband.) I always make it a point to tune into your show on my way to work and I LOVE it!! More power to you guys! 🙂
Awww. I have recordings of some of the Top Ten with Brad, thanks to the rxmorningrush forum. Kala ko pa naman may chance na bumalik siya.:(
And where’s Del? With Brad’s twin? Hehe.:)
how sad! a friend (brad) and a family member (your kuya) left P.I. you must be soooo lonely….
Is that Sheena? The one in red?
Amazing creature! Brad is simply breathtaking. I wonder where in Aussie will he be? What nationality is he?
And btw Chico, i really loooooooooooove your blog!
Many thanks!
