Time again to paddle our boats and head off to some distant shores somewhere in the 7k-strong islands in the P.I. Well, it’s Holy Week, the ONLY official vacation that we radio jocks get. No Christmas, no New Year, no nothing. Of course we pity the call centers who have work even during Holy Week, but it doesn’t make things any easier for us knowing that. But I’m not whining, just stating a fact. So we really try to relax on these couple of days that we don’t have to go to work. This year, our barkada decided to spend the Holy Week together in Batangas. We couldn’t really go too far because we have a 7-month pregnant friend with us, so no planes, no boat ride, no bumpy road trip. And a hospital nearby (just in case). So we decided to spend it a resort in Batangas, Nasugbu, I think, and we rented a cottage good for 10 (we’re 9). So after boardwork, we head off to Batangas, a total of 8 adults, 1 toddler, 1 baby in the tummy, and 3 dogs.
I haven’t had any sleep the whole day, doing chores for the trip, so I’m pretty wasted. After watching the preem of the wonderfully entertaining “Slumdog Millionaire”, I raced home to pack, groomed the dogs, and I just finished, at almost 1am, to post a short one, just to say I’ll be silent for the next 3 days. No Strange Fruit, no Facebook, no Multiply, no Twitter, no Flickr, no internet. In short, I’ll get a life. No sleep and exhausted, this will make for interesting boardwork tomorrow.
So for those who spend Holy Week in sublime spiritual meditation, may you find the proper venue and state of mind to achieve your goals. And for those who seek rest and maybe some fun and frolic, may you achieve your goals as well, hopefully not at the expense of those who seek sublime spiritual meditation. Live and let live, and I’ll see you when I get back!
