We got to Singapore around dinnertime. For the first time we didn’t ride a cab, but took the MRT instead, lugging all our baggage. Then we got to our hostel, the 5 Foot Way Inn, and suddenly I wasn’t so sure about our experiment to try the backpackers’ life. Turns out there’s 6 of us in a room. The horror of it! To be fair, everyone was perfect – nobody snored or was baho, or was coughing all night. It’s just weird sleeping (which is one of the most intimate and vulnerable activity you can do) with 4 other complete strangers. So when we decided to meet up with the SG Rushers, it was comforting to see familiar faces. Joe “El Presidente” Specialist met up with us in Chintown, and we walked to Robertson Walk to have coffee with the Rushers. Some new, many familiar, and I signed my first ever books abroad (still in seventh heaven by the way about the book on the bestsellers list). We hung out until past 12 midnight, but we had a blast! Went back to the hostel, took a shower (communal as well), then “slept”. I put air quotes because I hardly had any. I really feel odd not having my own room. I kept waking up throughout the night, half expecting to see one of my roommates eating my kidney with a dirty plastic spoon. So good luck to me, we have a packed all-day sked today. Here’s hoping I survive. But again, thanks to the SG Rushers, especially Specialist Joe!
