Charice On Oprah
I know, I just posted about it last Thursday, but I just had to give an update. I swear, Charice can really hit those notes live! I actually prefer the live version. I’m pretty sure the backlash won’t be far behind, it’s part and parcel of being the biggest thing of the moment. Every great artist had to go through it, polarized the general public, then bounced back. I’m sure many would already disavow the Charice media overload and start hating on her, sadly this is the current state of light-speed fickleness of public opinion in the Twitter age, but as far as I’m concerned, I’m still sufficiently impressed. And like her or not, you cannot deny that the girl can sing. The only question that remains, that producer and godfather David Foster has echoed, is if she can win over the teen market. She got the moms in the bag with her Celine Dion pipes, but can she gain enough cool cred to win over their much pickier sons and daughters? I guess we’ll find out in the next couple of months when the charts speak.
Greyson On Ellen
Another unmistakable young talent, he showed that he can deliver. Will he be the next Justin Bieber, or will he fade into obscurity like many talented YouTube discoveries who shine brightly like a shooting star, but fade just as quickly? He’s got the voice and he’s got the flair of performing. He’s got the right amount of drama to transcend his 15 minutes of fame and maybe parlay this guesting into an actual music career. I think YouTube and shows like Ellen and Oprah are giving American Idol a run for its money when it comes to discovering raw new talent and turning them into record-selling artists. Justin Bieber and Charice…who’s next?
