Happy New Year everyone! Barely survived boardwork; haven’t been this sleepy on air for as long as I can remember. But it was all worth it. It was a nice New Year, everyone was complete, we were all together, and there was love to go around. It was also the first New Year that friends join us, because Delle and Christi, together with some of our barkada, went up to Tagyatay to join us to greet the coming year. They arrived just in time for the fireworks, then media noche of portobello mushrooms, ham, morcon, quezo de bola, etc. They also joined our annual New Year traditions like the 7 wishes (via grapes) and the New Year toasts. Plus, the weather was so cold! It was really nice.
Each year, I wish for a better one, especially when the passing year was difficult. In 2007, we had to deal with a disease in the family so it was tough. So I wished 2008 was much better. But it turned out that 2008 was my annus horribilis, possibly my worst year on record. Again, I wished for an easier 2009. But the year was many things, but easy is not the word I’d use to describe it. Financially it was better than most, but other things were sources of difficulty. For a third straight year, it was pretty much an uphill climb. And if you were to subscribe to Chinese astrology, this year, the year of the tiger won’t be easy for people born under the sign of the sheep (like me). But for me, there’s no choice really, but to look favorably on the prospects of a better year ahead. What am I to do, roll over and wait for the supposed ill luck to bulldoze over my life? We forge on and try to remedy, however which way we can, any difficult situation. So I refuse to cede to any supposed destined difficulty and hope for the best, under any circumstance.
So to everyone, I wish you a blessed and purposeful new year and decade ahead of you! May you have good health, love in spades, and happiness with your lot. Happy 2010!
