With every local delicacy promising a unique gustatory experience, one of the best ways to experience the richness of our culture is through the taste buds. So what could be more exciting than to have the yummiest job in the Philippines: to take every foodie’s dream tour of sampling the specialties of 101 restaurants in 10 Philippine destinations, and promote pride in Filipino cuisine as the Ultimate Sooo Pinoy Blogger?
Reinforced by the new Sooo Pinoy ambassador, former Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano, Unilever Food Solutions presents this exciting, one-of-a-kind contest that aims to showcase the Philippines’ rich culinary treasures as part of the Sooo Pinoy advocacy which encourages Filipinos to explore and embrace our diverse culinary identity by dining out at Filipino cuisine restaurants. One of the country’s keenest travelers and most fervent advocates of Filipino culture, Ace Durano believes that trying out Pinoy delicacies is a great way to discover all the delights that our islands have to offer. “Everyone who comes to the Philippines definitely has to savor the wealth of our cuisine,” he says. “Food has always been an important part of our culture, and our local specialties reflect the distinctiveness and diversity of each area. Filipinos thus have countless delicious reasons to be proud of our culinary heritage, which is something that we should strive to promote to the rest of the world.”
From October 5 to November 21, Food enthusiasts nationwide can get a shot at becoming the Ultimate Sooo Pinoy Blogger, simply by sharing their love of Filipino cuisine through their blogs. All you have to do is post a photo blog about your recent dining experience in a restaurant established in the Philippines. The blog entry should be at least 300 words long, and should be accompanied by at least three (3) food shots and a photo of you dining in the restaurant.
To join the search for the Ultimate Sooo Pinoy Blogger, just take a screen shot of your blog entry and email it to Sooo_Pinoy@yahoo.com. The email must also contain the blog post URL, the contestant’s name and mobile number, and the blog article itself (preferably in .doc or .docx format). The blog post must not be altered or deleted until December 15, 2011.
Contestants who submitted the most creative entries that reflect genuine passion for Filipino food and enthusiasm about promoting Filipino culture will qualify for the next round and be given further challenges. The lucky foodie who will be chosen after all the challenges will take a 30-day journey to 10 Philippine destinations to enjoy culinary treats in 101 restaurants, and will get to share his or her adventures with the world!

First off, congratulations to the Monster Radio RX 93.1 team for bagging 14 nominations in the 20th KBP Golden Dove Awards! If I’m not mistaken, it’s a personal record for the station. When Gino, Delle and I got to Star Theatre (we all rode in one car), the show was just about to start. We got there an hour late (because of heavy traffic due to a burning Pajero along EDSA), but the show was just about to start. Good thing we made it, because the very first award was Best Comedy Radio Show and when the winner was announced: The Morning Rush!!! Delle was right when she said that we didn’t start the show thinking that it would be a comedy show, I guess it just evolved that way. We cannot even begin to describe how honored, and at the same time how humbled we felt receiving the award.
We were so happy that Delle was able to join us, her first time to go out after she gave birth! It was a sweet win, our second year in a row. But of course, we were all stoked when RX bagged the biggest prize of the night, the Best FM Radio Station: Monster Radio RX 93.1! Everyone who was there went up on stage to accept the award. Our vice president Raffy Barreiro who accepted the award said it best: “The KBP has just been Monsterized!”
We celebrate our two wins, but a bigger congratulations to everyone who was nominated – Countdown Top 7, The RX Concert Series, The Love Clinic, The Monster Scholar Announcement, Rafael Reyes, Francesca, Hazel, Cerah, among others! You make us all proud to be part of this team. Win or lose, we all try our best to give our listeners the BEST that we can offer. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we fail, but we always give it our BEST. And of course, we dedicate our win to YOU, the very people we’re working so hard for. To give you, our listeners, the best entertainment our humble talents can deliver. For you guys we strive harder, so to you we dedicate this great honor. Oh. My. Betlog. When the Blue-Ray boxed set of ALL 8 Harry Potter movies is released, it will come with a 48-minute documentary called “When Harry Left Hogwarts”, which is basically a behind-the-scenes documentary. It’s not over yet! We Potterheads still have one LAST morsel to salivate over! The boxed set will be released November 14. But I don’t have Blue-Ray, I wonder if they’ll have a mercy-release on DVD? Here’s the trailer/teaser that now has me on pins and needles with anticipation!

Although this looks like something you’d see on Looney Tunes, together with Daffy and Bugs, this photo, and the animal in it, had been verified as authentic. It’s not a species, but more of a mutated baby Dusky Shark, sliced from the belly of it’s pregnant momma. So don’t expect larger versions of this perfect-in-time-for-Halloween creature feature, these mutations wouldn’t survive long in the wild. Believe it.
