It’s that time of the year again when kind souls reach deep into their pockets (and hearts) to aid struggling students and their families to fund a semester of their studies. The first 6 students who were awarded scholarships where courtesy of Monster Radio RX 93.1. When we started, we only awarded 2 students, but now we’ve worked our way up to 6 students.
The second batch of students were the ones who were sponsored by friends and listeners of RX. There were 8 finalists, but the funds were only enough for 6. Okay fine, sometimes we try to prank them and tell them that there aren’t enough funds just so we could surprise them and say that we actually do, but this time we really didn’t have enough. So RX management decided that we’d call them anyway, and tell them we’d find a way to have them sponsored. But as we were saying this on air, about 4-5 people started texting, telling us they’d sponsor the last 2 finalists. So by the end of the show, the last 2 had full sponsorship of their semester! It couldn’t have played out better.
