Because I posted a picture of Gino’s breakfast, it’s just fair to post how much I ate too. This was just the first serving. It doesn’t look much, but I really tend to get a 2nd or even 3rd serving. I just like lying to myself that I didn’t eat as much. Right after breakfast, we started our walk for our first day of shopping.

This was the group that decided to go to Funan, which is the gadget place in Singapore. I went with Tom to Sim Lim the other day, which is like our version of Greenhills, but everyone tells me Funan is the more legit of the two.

Basically I told myself that the only purchase I will make is the iPad I promised as my pasalubong for someone. I just needed to find one that’s cheaper than the price here in Manila. Of course I find out that the price is constant all throughout Funan, all iPads had exactly the same price. I saw cheaper ones in Sim Lim, but I was hesitant not to get on from a store that was not an authorized dealer. So instead I bought the case for the iPad that had a keyboard in it. Very nice. I also got a double camera strap, so I could carry 2 bodies with me on photo shoots.

Of course we couldn’t have a day without Mr. Performance Rico Robles putting on a show. We just found him trying out the Kinect, which is like a Wii, but without wires. To be fair, Rico beat the crap out of the guy selling the Kinect. He put on quite a show for everyone.

We had a quick lunch at the food court before we had to be back at the hotel to dress up all spiffy for our big night out at Marina Bay sands.

After a quick change, we all trooped to the now famous Marina Bay Sands, where the contestants from TARA 4 had their final task and the final pitstop of the season. I checked out the infinity pool, which was off limits to people not billeted in the hotel, but you can stand behind a barrier from where you can take photos. I guess it’s just fair for the people who are checked in there to get some privacy from the regular tourists like us. It was also very crowded, so I didn’t spend a lot of time there.

Where we did spend a lot of time was the Ku De Ta Sky Bar on the other end of the roof deck. It had a magnificent view of the city:

There was a DJ spinning dance tunes and some street performers who entertained the people who weren’t busy taking photos of the breathtaking view.

Of course the RX staff didn’t really go there to look at the view; we went there to drink and par-tay!

The great thing being that high up in the sky was that the wind was blowing harder than a first-class hooker. Kidding. We were actually freezing our butts off! But although it was the best thing about the roof deck, it was also the worst. Picture-taking was so hard because the wind kept blowing our hair, making us all look like Mufasa.

But the most popular gal of the night was Stella. We all binged on the huge glasses of Stella Artois that we ordered one after the other. I don’t drink anymore, but being in that special place with the entire RX family, how could I not? So I decided to order a glass myself.

And if the girls had their Stella pic, the boys did too. Like I said, the wind sabotaged many of our photos. For some girls, it made their hair all magulo with strands all over their faces. For me though, the effect gave me bangs. It was really annoying because it made me look like I was wearing a cheap toupee. Here’s a photo of me with bangs (very Cachupoy):

And me without.

We also met the nice Pinoy bartenders who were all so nice and accommodating. Actually all the Pinoys we met were always very welcoming to us and we really felt the warmth every time they find out we’re fellow Filipinos. You could really tell the difference between the Pinoys because they were extra friendly. Some (not all of course) of the locals tend to be quite curt and formal when dealing with us. One bartender actually told us we had to leave the area because they were setting up for dinner and told us we couldn’t sit down. But later we find out there wasn’t really any rule that said we had to. It was just a little odd.

But it was all good, we were having so much fun partying and drinking that nothing really could spoil the high (literally and figuratively) that we were experiencing. For me, hands down the highlight of the trip. I just felt like we were in another world altogether. The view, the wind, the people, the hotel, added up to one incredible experience. Of course I got tipsy like I haven’t in years! And to think I just had one glass (but to be fair it was HUGE).

I vow to return to Marina Bay Sands, maybe to just visit, maybe to check-in (we heard it’s about SD400 a night to stay there), but for sure I’ll be back. Lovely place!

After that, we all had dinner at this outdoor fast food area called Makansutra Glutton’s Bay at the Esplanade. We were famished and we chowed down our food like madmen. The food was always good wherever we ate. If you’re a foodie, SG is the place to visit.

After dinner, we walked around Esplanade and found that it had some lovely areas to walk around in, especially at the back, where it was right next to the water, offering lots of opportunities to take photos of the stunning buildings as they are reflected on the dark waters of the bay:

Still at Esplanade, we decided to have more drinks at Harry’s which served their own beer. I didn’t drink anymore, one big glass was enough for me. Maybe the next time I drink again is when I come back to the Marina Bay Sands roof deck.

What a night. I’m not really into night outs, but this was one for the books. I really loved how the evening played out. Haven’t had this much fun in such a long time. Of course I got a little too tipsy and talkative and some people took advantage (yes, that’s you, Jude Rocha!) and made me shoot off my mouth unedited. So embarrassing. I don’t even know why I’m posting this, but let me end my Day 3 recap with a picture of me at the height of my beer buzz. This basically illustrates just how much fun I had. A little too much fun, if you ask me. Thanks to Gino for the pic!
