OMG, I can’t believe how amazing this is! I just tried this and it actually works! Basically, if you lose your iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch, MobileMe can help you find it with Find My iPhone. Just enable Find My iPhone in the MobileMe settings on your iPhone or iPad. Then sign in to me.com from any computer or using the Find My iPhone app on another iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to display its approximate location on a full-screen map. If it’s a little confusing and all this sounds like gibberish to you, just click on THIS.
Follow the very simple instructions, and voila, you can now locate your iPhone wherever it may be! In case you lose it or someone steals it, it can show you the general area where your phone is. When I tried to locate my iPhone, it showed like a map of our village, and the dot where my iPhone is supposedly located was just a street off. So if you’re not sure if you lost your phone or just misplaced somewhere in your house, this is the best thing for you!
You can apply this to your iPhone, your iPad, even your iPod Touch. For iPhones though, you’ll need iOS 4.2 for it to work. And if this is the first time you’re creating your free account, you’ll have to be on an iPhone 4. I don’t know if there’s a way to put it on an iPhone 3G.
I was supposed to blog about the RX Christmas party today, but while waiting for the pictures to load, I was going to sync my iPhone, when iTunes prompted this new thing and I was blown away! I just had to post it right away. I know someone who just lost his iPod Touch and it’s nerve-wracking. If he only installed this, he would at least know if it’s still in the house or if it was already stolen. He won’t get the exact address of the thief, but he’ll know the general area of where it is now.
I highly suggest you guys install this, it’s unbelievably awesome!

Is this free? Last time I checked, mobileme isnt.
Yup, it is very useful! If I’m not mistaken, there’s an app for it.
is this free???
@nailscarredhand, the find the iphone is a free service
from mobileme. it works great only if the iphone/ipad/ipod touch is
connected to the internet during the time that you are locating the
device, if not, it’s useless.
I know, i just discovered that now! How disappointing! Coz if its stolen, most likely theyll turn it off! Oh well…
yup this is really cool. I think you have to have mobile
but still not bad. @nailscarredhand yup they made it free
internet always ‘On’ though, or else you won’t be able to track the
phone
just recently. It’s the only free part of Mobile Me. The Mail,
Contacts, and Calendar part are still paid services. (ako na
bibo)
Yeah i guess its ok if you just misplaced it. Or if you delete your info before the thief turns ot off.
works great too if you’re spying on someone. hide it in his/her car/bag/etc, then go Find your iPhone! haha kidding.
lol
Try it on Del
Find my iphone is free only to iphone4, ipad, and ipod touch 4th gen. if you have lower models than those then you have to have the paid mobile me account. Mobile Me can detect what model your registering. no other work around
And that’s right you have to have the internet connection if you want to find your ios device. Its proven useful to iphone since your data plan is always in used. unless you turn it off which is not s straight forward thing. For ipod touches it must be connected to the internet. But its worth setting up just in case.
this may come in useful if you wanna track someone, say your spouse/bf/gf who claims to be going to a “business trip”!
A good lock screen + honesty will help
Even with “Find my iPhone”, it is always a good idea to set an explicit Lock Screen, with a phone number to reach you.
You can do it by creating an image from your PC or directly on your iPhone/iPad with my app called A+ Signature. See: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/a-signature/id409956176
Hey Chico -
Here’s the link on how you can run it on your pre-2010 iOS device- iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs.
You can create a free Find My iPhone account on any iPhone 4, iPad, or iPod touch (4th generation) running iOS 4.2. Once you create an account on a qualifying device, use your Apple ID and password to enable Find My iPhone on your other devices running iOS 4.2.
You can only make three MobileMe accounts per device.
