I can’t believe it, Team Philippines finally won!!! I’ve been watching The Amazing Race Asia religiously since season 2, and it has been an exercise in frustration. After Geoff and Tisha landed 2nd, I told myself I never learn. But like I said in my last post, it would’ve been nice if, after landing 3rd, then 2nd, we would finally win the frickin’ frackin’ race. It’s like a collective sigh of relief to finally have a team win. On a personal note, it was also extra EXTRA nice for us to have had the 2 Richards on The Morning Rush, on the eve of their big win.

There were 2 spoilers coming into the finale. The first was that Hussein and Natasha would win (which would’ve killed me), because of a conspiracy theory involving an ad of a sponsor which featured them, and the second was that the Richards would win, based on the PR hype that seemed to have exploded a few days before the finale. I wasn’t sure which one to believe. All I knew was, that Michelle and Claire won’t win (mainly because I never heard of a spoiler that said they won). So when Hussein gave up on the tightrope roadblock, I knew it was over, and that Team Philippines had won. Not even the tightest editing could have made anyone believe that Michelle and Claire were able to catch up. It was exhilarating. If I didn’t remind myself to man up, I would’ve broken down and cried like a baby. I just love happy endings (as in stories, not massages).

So, a big CONGRATULATIONS to Rich Herrera and Rich Hardin!!! It was well played, even their competitors admired and respected them, and they won fair and square without ever once playing dirty. You guys deserved to win BIG TIME. Of course big hugs and congratulations as well to Jess and Lani, for finishing a very respectable 4th place, just missing the finale by a hair! We’re just as proud of you girls! Waaah, I can’t wait for TARA 5!!!
