Last Sunday I hosted a really feel-good event. It was the first ever Dog Wash Weekend, for the benefit of the Animal Kingdom Foundation who rescues dogs bound for the slaughterhouse. Apparently, most of the dogs are bound for Baguio where the dog meat trade is very much active. So it was really nice when so many groups come together for a common cause. It was great to be there because there were so many lovely dogs we saw during the event, from big breeds to small, longhaired to shorthaired, purebreds to aspins, together with their proud loving owners. I really wish I had more time to take pictures of them. Well, here are a few I was able to snap.

Gelli Victor of RX was also there with her baby, her Pomeranian Collette:

Of course, one of the main reasons we went there, other than hosting, is for my Yorkie to participate in the actual washing part of the Dog Wash event. So begrudgingly, Cairo was washed:

And dried:

Cairo was so malikot everytime he saw me. He was fine and well-behaved whenever I moved away, but whenever he sees me, he starts wriggling like a whirling dervish trying to go to me. So I thought it wiser to leave him alone with his groomers. And after some grooming, voila! Cairo was ready for his close-up:

We also had a group photo with Gelli and Collette. The doggies were so cute. Cairo, being such a guy, kept on trying to kiss Collette, craning his neck for a lick or two. Collette, being such a girl, kept on avoiding Cairo’s advances. Eventually Collette turned her head to face Cairo and he was able to plant a wet one on her. That’s what I call puppy love!

Again, thank you to all the organizers for inviting me to join this cause that’s very close to my heart. Anything animal-oriented really piques my interest and passion. Thanks as well to Manong Guard for the wonderful photos he took of us! They we nice enough to give us hard and digital copies. We love them! Hope there are more events like these we can be part of.
