I have 2 Nikons, 1 Olympus, and 1 Fuji. I have yet to buy my first Canon camera. I think the time has come. Please Universe, I want one of these! It’s the Canon D10, it’s waterproof up to 30 feet, so it’s the perfect companion to the beach, or while spelunking, or while snorkling, or diving within 30 feet (which is one setback). I remember when we were in Palawan, we went swimming inside this cave, where a pool of crystal clear water gathered for a spectacular sight! But unfortunately, I only had my Nikon D40x, which I had to leave at the resort because it doesn’t have a waterproof casing, so I have no picture of that beautiful place. Now if I had this, it would be PERFECT.
I have an underwater casing for my Olympus C5060, but the preparation is way too much, if it’s just for, say, snorkling. Plus, the silicone grease is so expensive to use up if you’re not using it for diving. So I never bring it to ordinary beach outings, since it’s a hassle, plus it’s too expensive.
BUT THEN, I also want the Canon G10:
This is the perfect diving camera for me. It’s not waterproof though, so I’d need to buy an underwater casing for it. The price is almost the same as the D10, but with the casing, the price will balloon to double. Obviously, I can’t buy both. So which do I choose, the already waterproof D10, which I could bring everywhere, anytime, except in real diving trips, or the G10, with its excellent picture quality, which I can bring to any depth, but I’d have to buy an underwater casing for it, making it twice as expensive as the D10. So unless I win the lotto between now and later, I’d have to choose only one.
Any suggestions? Comments? Advice? Prayers for me to win the lotto?
