1 million hits. Wow. Sometime last Saturday, April 25, we finally breached the 1 million hit mark for this blog, Strange Fruit. If I’m not mistake, I started the blog November 25 back in 2007. If so, then it took exactly 1 year and 5 months to reach that benchmark. The number doesn’t really mean anything, at least not in terms of what it makes the blog. But what it DOES mean is that I’m extremely grateful for the community that was built around this blog, especially the people who come over and check it on a regular basis. Some of you I have met personally, but most I probably haven’t. Yet, we share a little corner in cyberspace where you humor my humble posts on anything and everything. So redundancy does NOT apply when it comes to gratitude, so again, thank you to everyone who’s ever dropped by (from here and abroad), from the regular daily visitors, to those who dropped by once and never again. Thank you to those who send in comments (except the spammers, no thank you.); your comments gives the posts legs, and give it a dynamic dimension. Thank you to those who suggest posts, directly or indirectly (whether I see a video or a picture in FB or Multiply, etc., that inspires a post). Thank you to the other bloggers who continue to inspire me. Thank you to Karen Pamintuan who taught me how to blog. And most of all, thank you to The chicogarcia.wordpress.com Awards for the award, “Best Blog Ever. Period. Barrier. Force Field.”
Seriously, I’m sure many will be quick to point out that thousands of other blogs have had more hits in less the time, but it’s OUR first million and I just feel so blessed for this personal milestone and I want to thank everyone who’s kept me inspired to continually update this blog that has kept me sane, more than you’ll ever know. So I hope we’ll have more time together; I’ll keep posting as long as you guys keep dropping by, and please feel free to comment or suggest stuff that’ll make this blog as interactive and community-based as possible. ありがとう、再度来なさい。

u’re one of the coolest people on air. when i listen to you and del in RX it’s like i’m listening to the conversations of my best buddies, i just feel that i am having a 3-way talk on the phone. I love how you connect with your listeners and it’s a talent that the other DJs don’t have i guess.

Haven’t texted you thru the morning rush for like almost a year now coz my latest job does not permit me to listen to the radio while on duty. Besides, ‘no signal where I’m located. But I keep myself updated about everything that’s going on the morning rush and your life and delle’s thru Blueritz, this award-winning blog, and youtube (you and delle got quite a lot of videos there, u know).
So, hope I could get back to civilization pretty soon. BTW, I’m having my second baby in September. Congratulate me. Hope that you could greet me sometime on your show, it would totally make me happy. Listening to the podcasts keep me updated as to who are still active rushers thru your greetings b4 every top 10, so I want the whole community to know, that I still am active as well, though I ain’t texting.

Hi Chico … there is no other way to say it but CONGRATS and KEEP ON BLOGGING. Visiting your site has been my daily routine during lunch breaks (as I take my lunch inside my room here at the office), I keeps me company as I just eat alone here, avoiding the crowded cafeteria and keeping away from the heat if I decided to join in my office mates to eat out of the office. Really, I enjoy reading your blog, keep tp smile or winks sometimes … really, a great way to spend the lunch time …
Chico … can I suggest a topic in your Top 10? As it is approaching the marry month of May, can we do one of the following:
(1) Top 10 Signs that You are Finally Committed to Tie a Knot to your Significant Othe
– these are signs that you are really meant for each other, or you are now sure that you can be husband/wife afterwards, or maybe signs to watch that your significant other is ready for the responsibility ahead’
(2) Top 10 Ways to Say “I Do” – these are ways you can say “I Do” if you will be given the opportunity to say it differently. It can be during a formal wedding or during the usual “pamamanhikan” or during a not-so-formal wedding proposals, like the usual practices in the provinces.
(3) Top 10 Ways to Turn Back from your Wedding with grace and glamour – this can be a different way to say that you have finally decided not to pursue with the wedding but still reserving some of your remaining grace and glamour. Because, nowadays, there are many “shotgun” marriage and couple only realize that they are not meant for each other after the ritual or during honeymoon.

This is quite a feat. I’m late in joining the morning rush fanfare (two months to be exact). chuck it up to unavailability of RX FM in my place.
My friend and I want you and Del (isn’t it “Delle?” “Del” reminds me of pineapple and tropical fruits) to know that graduate students of The University of Tokyo find time to listen to you guys. TMR helps us polish our English language faculties… tendency kasi ng karamihang ng-aaral dito e napupurol ang 英語.
When we’re in the lab you keep us company while we do experiments (in my case i run simulations). I have a small pillow on my desk, it’s handy in smothering my laughter. I think you have an idea on how staid most people in the academic community here are.
