Being from La Salle Greenhills (Grade School and High School), this topic is close to my heart. Although I’m really more of a U.P. Maroon, I cannot deny the pull of allegiance of being a Green Archer all those years…ESPECIALLY when it comes to the rivalry with Ateneo. But as host of a radio program, I have to suspend all bias and try to judge the entries as objectively as possible, to ensure I don’t favor La Salle, even unwittingly. I don’t always succeed, but I do appreciate a good laugh, even if it’s at the expense of my Alma Mater.
September 26, 2008 → The Top Ten Reasons Why Ateneo OR La Salle Is Better
- No name – Ateneo, kasi religious. Kasapi ako sa iglesia ni Chris Tiu.
- Enzo – La Salle, because Ateneans make good employees, while Lasallians make good employers.
Hindi no! NaTIUgi lang talaga ang La Salle!
- Monica – As the saying goes: Party with the La Sallites, but marry the Ateneans.
- No name – La Salle, because Erap was an Atenean.
- Psba – Both are mayabang, pero at least ang Ateneo, may ipagyayabang.
- Astroboy – During cheering competitions, La Salle’s crowd is better because they don’t shoo away people from other schools in their seating area, the way Ateneo does.
- AJ – La Salle is better because they live happier lives. Diba ignorance is bliss?
- No name – Ateneo is better because they know how to spell their name in cheerdance competitions.
- Jai – Ateneo, because they’ve never been suspended from the UAAP, and they still attend the awarding ceremonies even when they lose.
- Treiz – Ateneo is better because of Chris Tiu. La Salle is better because of TY Tang. But both came from Xavier. Do the math.
- Shinta – La Salle is better kasi they’re better in geography. Ateneo de Manila pero nasa Quezon City naman sila.
- Paolo – Ateneo is better kasi mas malapit sa U.P.
- Treiz – Ateneo is better because their celebration was bigger. We’d celebrate too if we waited so long.
- Daddy’s Boy – I dated boys from both schools. Pag Atenean, top. Pag La Salle, bottom.
- C.D. – Ateneo is better because my Dad is a diehard Lasallian, but he sent me to study in Ateneo.
- No name – DLSU stands for: Di Lumusot Sa Upcat.
- Kabodskie – Both are good; they supply quality education to those who failed to pass in U.P.
- Frod – The only reason Ateneo won was because the referee fell in love with Chris Tiu.
- Ampypatika – Ateneo is better because more grade school Ateneans pass the Pisay entrance exams than grade school Lasallians.
- Mags – Ateneo may have won the championship only twice in the past 8 years, but what makes the difference, is that in both championships, they beat La Salle.

chico. i am fuming with anger at the anti-ateneo entries. haha!
’
and astroboy… beware! hahaha!
kidding!
Oh, feel free to fume. I’ve got more.
hmm ako nagsend ng “Ateneo is better kasi mas malapit sila sa UP” ah
#1, 7am batch, may record pa ako sa phone haha.
anyways sana taga-UP rin ung Paulo haha.
Huy Dianna
two of my entries made it – one supporting Ateneo (#1, 7am) and the other supporting DLSU (#6, 8:30) :p
hahaha! i was just kidding!
i just feel so OUT NUMBERED by the radio1′s. haha!
besides, just because we’re proud of our own schools, it doesn’t necessarily mean we’re bashing other schools.
#13… lamang pa rin ang Ateneo… cuz Xavier is run by Jesuits. eh ang ADMU is run by Jesuits… so if doing the Math… hint-hint…
Well, yeah, I just happen to think that the SPECIFIC group of Jesuits that were deported from China and founded Xavier School are better than the ones running Ateneo OR Lasalle.
And Jesuits in general. I laugh.
well, not to be bias since was a graduate of Xavier… but it’s kinda true.
when i was in college, some of my classmates were from ateneo, and to be honest… i was very good in math, even when i was still in Xavier i kinda flunk math a lot of times… the training of Math & Science at Xavier was something i’m proud to went through it.
I can’t believe i was teaching my college classmates Math… hahaha
Chico I’m obvously ateneo. you know the reason why
I appreciate the pictures in this blog. Keep it up!
No comment on the rivalry though. Just hope both institutions bring out the best of every Filipino they teach.
hahaha. i so agree with the #22 entry.
stereotyping was and still is, not my thing. (that was UP instilled to me) But meeting archers and eagles in live skin when I entered this vast corporate world, I became confused whether this is a good attitude or high tolerance. I’m so pissed with them especially in a corporate meeting, when they talk about the places they’ve gone to. And in fact, they say the same things in all conversations. But try to look at them while the real business is talked about..I’m sure, you’ll see them scribbling, tracing notebook fonts and playing with their cool phones. Oooohhhh coooooollll phones! (I am just telling my own personal experience.)
Okay sorry for this Chico, but here’s my point. I don’t care whether you’re an archer, an eagle or even a maroon. What I care about though is if you talk to me about useless things like coool phones in the middle of a strategic management.
So I’m just pissed with how these universities boast about each other. Because we don’t boast about how we passed UPCAT and they didn’t! Hehe. (yabang)
This is my shoutout: Before you boast about your school, make sure your school boast about you.
wow, a shoutout.
But yeah, I agree with you. “Before you boast about your school, make sure your school boast*S* about you.” well made point.
and I applaud what UP instilled IN you, that is a very important trait in today’s society.
haha, thanks for the “s” correction
i was about to edit it. (palusot?) haha.lol.
it’s just too bad that people make such a big fuss about school rivalry. gosh, we are more than our schools!
people sometimes are too hard on the graduates of ateneo & la salle. they can’t wait for the ateneans and la sallians to makes mistakes so they can go, “hmph, yan ba ang tiga-ateneo/dlsu?”…
but then, uaap basketball games won’t be half as fun without the asaran…
oops! “make” pala
ayan, may mistake na ako! hahaha!
oops! “make” pala.
ayan, may mistake na ako! hahaha!
What I do find funny with the maroons is that most of them assume that ateneans did not pass the UPCAT. Of course, I can’t say the same thing for the archers
. FYI, most of us did pass, but we opted to study in ateneo instead. Curious lang kami what the UPCAT fuss is about. No biggie naman pala . . . Teka, meron ba mistake sa grammar ko? Ay wala, atenista nga pala ako. . . joke lang (most of my friends are maroons)
)
Btw, I don’t own a coooool phone and I prepare our presentations for our annual strategic corporate meetings — meaning I know and understand everything the big fishes discuss in those meetings. And one thing I do know, some of the things they do discuss in those meetings are absolutely useless on their own that it could be more interesting to discuss the new features of a coooool phone. Don’t generalize about arrogance, it’s a trait most people acquire before they reach college, lol. Whatever school you come from, I only have one advice — enjoy your life and remember that it’s the laughter and tears when you are out of the boardroom, it’s the jeering and taunting in the basketball courts, and it’s those silent and contented moments with family that matter most in the end.
that’s my own personal experience lang naman po and i’m super pissed because of that specific situation. pero i still don’t stereotype. as a psych graduate, i’m an advocate of individualism. everyone is unique and diversity rocks! i did not say that all are like my officemates. naalala ko lang kasi nagkataon na archer and eagle sila..
i agree with you that we should enjoy life. After all, the real objective of UAAP is to make these universities unite. Ewan ko ba bakit pinag-aaway away! Haha.
Peace everyone!
Oops…careful on that one. I did pass both UPCAT and ACET. And by the way, I’m a La Sallian. *wink* I have nothing against UP and Ateneo; what’s important is that all three universities are striving to give the best education to their students. Amen! Let’s just try to beat other universities in the world’s top 500…say, reach the top ten at least? Forget about crab mentality people. Speaking about crab mentality…go La Salle! Beat Ateneo! lol.
funny that this was top ten was done on my birthday and i’m atenean!
oh… and this was done a day after ateneo won the uaap championship last year…hehehe

I remember that Iglesia ni Chris Tiu joke, I even laughed at it so hard.
o, ang mga puso…relak lang!
