This is my favorite part, where I get to share some of the pictures that I took when we travel. They’re not part of the narrative, but taken for their own sake. Like I said earlier, I really love my Moalboal photos, mainly because they’re not my usual “landscape-y” pics. It’s going back to travel photography with mostly portraits of the locals who were just sooo friendly. I never thought I’d get so many great images just by sitting in one spot and capturing life as it rolls by. Most of these pics don’t really have a story behind it, so I’ll just give them titles. For those with accompanying stories, I’ll include the behind-the-scenes stuff.

I’ve always thought that my biggest weakness as an photography hobbyist is shooting people. I don’t really like imposing on complete strangers, and the last thing I want is for them to rebuke me for taking photos of them. But it all started when the friendly locals were actually inviting me to take shots of them, and before I knew it, I was clicking away! I had a field day. Here are some of my favorite people shots:
“Lolamar”

“This Land Is Mine!”

“Ready, Set…”

“H.H.W.W.”

“Dude, Look At My Kilikili…”

“Threelhouette”

“Casting A Line”

“Smoking Spearfishers”

“Watchu Lookin’ At?”

And here’s probably my favorite. I saw this little girl, with the most kikay outfit, walking right behind her dad, imitating everything he was doing. I was just so glad I got a shot of her imitating how her dad walked:
“Puto Maya”

The next 2 photos are a pair of unforgettable kids just because they were sooo cute! I had such a hard time choosing which among the many shots I’d post because they were just so photogenic. The little girl was more of the reluctant model. Once I was shooting her, she started getting self-conscious and eventually looked down and hid her face. The little boy, on the other hand, was such a ham! He’d proudly pose and not move until he hears the camera’s click, then changes pose for the next click! A born model. Hilarious!
“Sandy”

“Honda”

And of course, no shoot is complete without my animal shots. Together with landscapes, I love shooting animals the most. It’s just more difficult to shoot animals, because unlike landscapes, they’re much more “malikot”. But thankfully I got a couple that I like.
“Flutterby”

“Pusiket”

“Beauty Key”

And of course, my “wala lang” pics. I can’t really put them in any category, so here they are:
“Ang Boat Sa Imo”

“Shower Head”

Sea-lhouette”

“Pulmon”

Now we get to this shot. It’s actually a self-portrait. It’s my other favorite because what started out as an experiment, turned out pretty cool results. Believe it or not, this picture was taken at around 11pm, with almost zero light. It was almost pitch black. Although the moon was out, it wasn’t really giving much light. But with slow shutter speed and high ISO, it turned out looking like this:

You can even see the stars in the sky. Wala lang, I just found it so cool.
Well, there you go, that wraps up our Moalboal trip! Hope you enjoyed the pictures, because I really enjoyed taking them. I miss the place already. I can’t wait to post my new Zambales pics next, we revisited the sites that started it all for me, landscape-wise. Ciao!
