This cute little message left on the sand said it all. Capones island was our next stop in our 2nd day in our landscape class. Although it was a beach, the island was pretty harsh if you went there for leisure. The landscape of the island basically consisted of ocean-sand-cliff. There was hardly any tree to take cover under, just the shadows cast by the high rock cliffs. Since we went there shortly after lunch, the sun was pretty harsh. We took a short break, and hid under the refuge of the few shadows available and waited a couple of minutes before we started shooting.
Eventually we got off our butts (which were sore since we were sitting on sharp rocks), and started shooting some more rocks and sand and water. I used I.R. again because the sun was so harsh and the infrared filter is one of the useful filters when shooting at a time of day when most photographers would usually sit out because of the intense light that would wash out most photographs. The best time to shoot would be early morning or late afternoon…ish.
It’s funny how someone commented in the last post that the pics have a Lord of the Rings feel. That’s exactly how I felt about this set. Since we were using slow shutter speed, the water started blending in with the sand, creating an almost desert-like image. Keep in mind that these are all seashore shots…

Final stop: Camara island.
